The team has over 100 years of experience developing projects in Africa across the energy, infrastructure, mining, and telecoms sectors, including with Black Rhino, Blackstone’s Africa-focused energy and infrastructure developer. Through the team and shareholders, GridX has developed >500 MW of solar projects globally.

DEVOE ARNOLD
Project Developer

Devoe has a background working in microfinance and human wildlife conflict across East Africa and Latin America. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Government and Legal Studies (International Relations) and Neuroscience from Bowdoin College.

DENNIS BOUT
Senior Associate / Project Developer

Dennis has built and managed commercial relationships with global energy commodity traders while working for Rabobank’s Trade & Commodity Finance department as an Associate Director. He holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. 

AFSHA DAWRE
Accountant

Afsha has 5 years of experience in accounting and administration. She started at Ace associates and moved to Devsons Ltd where she was a senior accountant. Afsha holds a diploma in Business Management and a certificate for Quickbooks Accounting software.

GEORGE DAY
Business Development

George was head of Business Development at Cluff Geothermal where he secured a development license for 400MW of geothermal in Ethiopia as well as project managing a drill contract in Kenya.

RYAN DUNN
Chief Development Officer

Ryan has led partnerships and market entry for technology companies and managed deal diligence for infrastructure investments in Africa and South America. He holds an MBA from Georgetown University and a B.A in African Studies from the College of William & Mary.

 
 

CHALKER KANSTEINER
CEO / Founder

Chalker handles project financing and development team management Chalker’s power and infrastructure development experience spans from mega-infrastructure oil & gas projects to commercial & industrial solar-battery projects.

HARRY LOPES
Chairman / Co-Founder

Harry, after working in finance and as CFO of an AIM listed mining business, has been developing & financing renewable energy projects for 12 years. He is CEO and founder of Eden Renewables, which has over 5GW of solar, wind and storage projects in development in the UK and US.

GERALD MAKORI
Project Engineer

Gerald is an experienced solar engineer, having worked to deliver over 100MW of projects across Sub-Saharan Africa. Gerald is a T3-certified project engineer with experience across different solar installation stages. He has a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, from the University of Nairobi.

GREG MENESES
Director of Operations

Greg is an experienced project developer with a long history of implementing successful projects in Africa. Greg has been an executive for Black Rhino as well as the SEACOM fiber optic cable project and the Gautrain Rapid Rail Project.


DICKSON MINYUKI
Business Development

Dickson has a higher diploma in Business Management and Marketing, from Warton Palmer University. He has vast experience in Marketing having worked at Heinz. He consulted for several international firms across Kenya before coming on board to join the GridX business development team.

 
 

PHILIPO MOLLEL
Project Manager

Philipo has a background in finance, data analytics, and project management from various firms in Africa, including PWC and ALU, School of Business. He has a degree in Electrical Power Systems from Glasgow Caledonian University in partnership with the African Leadership University.

PATRICIA NYADHI
Project Coordinator

Patricia has a background in infrastructure and building construction across sub-Saharan Africa. She has extensive project management experience and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, from the University of Nairobi.

PALVI SHAH
Chief Financial Officer

Palvi has 13+ years of experience in accounting & finance in both practice and in industry, most recently as Head of Treasury / Regional CFO at Jumia. Palvi is an ACA and has an MBA from London Business School


DAVIN VALENTINE
Associate

Valentine has worked in various Renewable energy fields including wind, geothermal and solar projects. She has experience in project development across the various facets of C&I projects. She has a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, from the University of Nairobi.

JOHN WEYAMA
O&M Engineer

John has over 5 years’ experience in Engineering Renewable Energy solutions during which time he has installed, tested, and commissioned over 10MWp of Solar power. He has also developed Electric Mobility solutions across the Sub-Saharan region. He is certified by EBK (Graduate Engineer), IEK (Graduate Member) and EPRA licensed Class C1, T3 & B (Medium Voltage) Electrician.

Eden Renewables develops utility-scale solar and energy storage projects in the US and UK. Eden's team has nearly a decade of experience developing large-scale solar projects. In 2013 they set up the top-20 UK developer Solstice Renewables, an award-winning business known for its unique, ethical approach: putting community and biodiversity at the heart of its solar developments. Founders Harry Lopes and Giovanni Maruca have developed over 54 solar projects totaling 300MW over the last seven years

Pan African Capital Group (PACG) leverages its pool of permanent capital to make direct investments in financial services companies, participate in private equity funds and work with African and global clients to advise on structured lending, corporate finance, and other transactions in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The Pembani Remgro Infrastructure Fund is an African infrastructure opportunities fund seeking to make equity, quasi-equity and equity-related investments in private infrastructure in Africa. The Fund targets greenfield and brownfield projects, as well as investments in companies that provide services within the private infrastructure sector.
